2009 Yellowtail Shootout Results

The 2009 Yellowtail Shootout saw 69 boats and 253 anglers compete for just under $27,000 in cash and $11,300 in prizes for a total prize purse of just over $38,000. The wind came up in the afternoon giving everyone a bumpy ride home but several teams managed to bring some quality fish to the dock. Tournament results are below.

1st and 2nd Place - Bonito Slayers- 38.8 and 38.1 lbs

Prize: $3,500 cash for 1st place. $1,750 cash for 2nd place. Avet EX 50, Chuck Byron Print, 4 days and 3 nights at The Zancudo Lodge in Costa Rica, Fred Acher Spreader Bar and a Baja Directions Atlas - Baja Edition. Bonito Slayers were in the $300 jackpot for $7,290. Bonito Slayers walked away with $18,000 in cash and prizes.

3rd place - Mad Lamb- 36.2 lbs

Prize: $700 cash, Avent SX, Chuck Byron print, 1 day fishing with Pacifico Sportfishing in Puerto Vallarta and a Baja Direction Southern California Atlas. Mad Lamb also claimed the $100 jackpot for an additional $4,500 in cash. Mad Lamb takes home $6,800 in cash and prizes.

4th place - Ocean Pearl - 25.3 lbs

Prize: $525 cash, Avet JX and a mini yellowtail mount from Worldwide Fish Mounts. Ocean Pearl also took down the $500 jackpot for an additional $7,650.

5th place - Team Mc'Lovin- 34.8 lbs
Prize: $350 cash, Avet JX and a mini yellowtail mount from Worldwide Fish Mounts

6th place - Paddywackers- 32.1 lbs
Prize: $250 cash and a Avet MX Reel

7th place - Tail Chasers - Mikes BBQ - 29.8 lbs
Prize: $200 cash and a Penn Rod and Reel Combo

8th place - Los Borrachos - 29.5 lbs
Prize: $100 cash and a Open Water Tackle Bag

Dash for Cash- Tail Chasers - Mikes BBQ
Prize: $1500 in gift certificiates at Dana Landing.
